Butterfly Graveyard?

Often on our journey to school we come across dead butterflies on a particular stretch of pavement...

it's next to a hedge and a busy main road, so we can only assume that there is some sort of air stream that sucks them down.

Only a solitary cloud to be found.

At last, work has commenced.

A reject swan which happens to be a perfect pin cushion.

The Public

At last the MA is done, the show opened at The Public on Saturday 24th and runs until 9th October.

It took 5 hours to hang my work...

an awful lot of tinkering about.

I worked out well, apart from my contact details being missed off the catalogue.

The film is on a loop, it takes 20 minutes, I did it in one take, I am sick of my own voice.

Thanks to my very useful assistant.
Now just The Shire Hall to get ready for in November.

When people know you like old textile stuff, they throw it your way...

I often get carrier bags and bin bags full of other people's unwanted stuff thrust at me...

and of course I am over the moon to receive such delights...

how can you not drool over these illustrations.

Best of all is when I find handwritten notes and adjustments.

Betty Draper eat your heart out.

On a damp note, the school run was a bit of a wash out today, the little SunRay had a puncture and the 99p rain hat earned  its keep.

I have taken delivery of a brand new Pashley Britannia for the little school run, I have never had a new bike before only ever hand-me-downs, thrilled but paranoid about scratching it.

The big school run is only on a Monday morning, this is were we were last Monday for two hours but thankfully this morning the motorway was clear as I tootled from Shrewsbury to West Bromich.

MA Show opens on Saturday at The Public, my work will be covering the Allen Ahlberg poster, but this is as far as it got this morning!

The School Run!

While school is starting for everyone else, I am just about done.

My last piece of work for my MA was inspired by the crinoline ladies of the bottom drawer who were stitched with such high 'Home Sweet Home' hopes...

the reality is always a never ending pile of laundry.

Where Have We Been Hiding?

We haven't been hiding just very busy!

After the India jaunt time has just flown by, we had a little trip to Spain...

and stumbled across our great friend Hans Christian Anderson in Malaga...

we first met him in Copenhagen 2005.

With my big assistant on the bacon baps...

we said cheerio to our much loved Yarlet.

We thought the lazy days of the summer holidays would last forever...

we learnt many new skills over eight weeks, including how to ride a bike.

Miss Belle is now biking to school with a 5 minute commute...

and Louis is off to board...

he didn't look back... or call!
