Fur Coat and No Knickers - Almost!

Gertrude (bottoms up), Astrid (gold), Sally Hope (speckled) and Hepzibah (bringing up the rear), don't think much of the snow but are getting used to it - four eggs a day.  At first they didn't want to leave their house but once they got there feet in they were okay.

Don't know what era Miss Bell is from, here she is trying to engage the chicks in a game wearing a fur coat, bare legs and wellies.

Let It Snow

Walking to school on Friday took so long because we had to keep stopping and looking at pretty snowy things.

Walking to school today took so long because the snow drifts came over someone's wellies, but still good to be on foot, our house is in the very corner of this photo so not far to trudge.

Our conservatory is great in the snow, it's warm with a white blanket on top and that strange snow bright light.  We have been listening to the Moomin's audiobooks whilst knitting, drawing and Meccano-ing!  I found the yoke to a cardigan shoved in the back of my stash, I know that I have since knit up the rest of that yarn into a tank top so I am trying some creative stash-busting.

Berlin Baby Bundt

We went to Berlin for my Big Birthday

had lots of good food - my favourite was Liver and Potatoes Berlin Style.

In our house it's not a proper holiday unless you return with bakeware, this started about twenty years ago in Florida.

Happy New Year

The weekend Champagne drinking has continued into 2013, but Hot Rum and Cider was discovered at Broadway market on a very enjoyable weekend before christmas.  Who knew boozing from a jam jar could be so good.

A few trials were needed to get it just right!

We've been eating the best Custard Creams from Jo Wheatley's book A Passion For Baking,

and even ventured in to ravioli making.
