Easter Snowflake

A great quick knit off the needles...

knit in "Johnny" given to me by an elderly lady I know...

already cast-on for another.

We thought Spring had arrived with these fluffy little fellas.

Knit School

Wednesday, 20 March 2013

We have had snow recently and I am excited about this little project that I found, Snowflake by Tin Can Knits . It is two tone and comes in sizes 0-6 months up to adult 4XL.  Cast on a small one for a young lady I know.  They have got some super designs and the pattern writing is spot on.

Another revelation in our house is bought cake, who knew it could be so good?  We had a Panetone at Christmas and the Colomba is the Easter version,  - (mothers day, we'll be getting another for Easter) shaped like a Dove.  A young lady I know likes it for breakfast in bed.

WI last night was Mac Joseph talking about the Birmingham Back to Backs,  brilliant and definitely worth a visit over Easter.

The Big 40

We celebrated my four decades in Berlin.

Saw some great buildings,

and historic sites.

Ost and West still very different.

Keito Dama

Fame at last, Minako from Stafford Knot Spinners got an article published in the Japanese knitting magazine, Keito Dama.

My quilt made from embroidered tablecloths took pride of place.

Sleeping Beauty

We have had a lot of discussion in our house about how Sleeping Beauty actually came to prick her finger, we have studied the many spinning wheels we know and couldn't fathom the fairytale.

That is until Dora brought along her Great Wheel and gave us a demonstration of Long Draw Spinning at Stafford Knot Spinners.  It's a massive wheel that you have to stand up to work and the spindle is a great big dangerous looking spike.

I'll stick to the knitting.

Once Upon a Time...

...I found a crate of childrens magazines in a charity shop, little did I know that one day I would have a daughter who always wanted a crappy magazine full of adverts and free tat.  Happily I can now walk through the supermarket without being harranged by a 7 year old for £3.99 because she has two years worth of these lovely magazines from 1969 to 1971 waiting for her at home, as if by magic they are delivered to her every Thursday, keeping closely to the date of issue.  Result!
