Stafford County Show

An incredibly busy week this week.  On Tuesday we set up our stand for the County Show and then dashed over to the Stafford Knot Spinners, Weavers and Dyers meeting.  Here is Chris modelling her Belgian Ombre Linen pinny purchased from me, but back-to-front it is so much easier to spin in.

Wednesday and Thursday were spent manning our didyoumakeityourself stall and joining in the knitterly fun with novice and experienced knitters and a few spinners.  We raised £17.50 for the Gingerbread Centre in donations from newbies.

The pink 'It's a Girl' balloon ended up in the roof!

We had many a good conversation with complete strangers, 

it was a real treat to be able to mooch about and just enjoy the creative atmosphere.

and working hard.

Pinstripe Denim

Ploughing on with my Pinny Project!

I've got 32 made up and on my rail now.

Another 12 in various denim to go,  I loved a bit of pinstripe denim in my youth.

I am modelling what I am calling Ample - otherwise known as large.

The rail is mostly vintage embroidered linen, just need to launder again and give a crisp starch.

More Crossover Aprons

This is my favourite, with very deep pockets.

I am a sucker for a good piece of proper linen.

Not too keen on the jowly face, must smile more!

Love the crossover back.

This waterproof fabric is ace, soft brushed cotton on the face and waterproofed on the reverse.

Crossover Wraparound Apron

I had been intending to make one of these for ages.  I tried out the 1940's type with tonnes of binding but what I wanted were simpler lines.  Betsy is wearing the photo-type which she loves.

I was thinking sophisticated Japanese, but of course who can resist a bit of floral.

I love this style because the weight is distributed across the shoulders and not all on the neck,

even with the deep pockets.

Burnt orange and eau-de-nil in a heavy two tone linen.

The lighter weight fabrics can be worn as day wear when no 'work' is being done

 - as if that ever happens.

I've been wearing a chocolate brown linen with red stitches.

These have all gone but I will be chained to the sewing machine this week.
