I will admit that barkcloth is one of my weaknesses,
I get particularly excited to find an unused bolt from the 1940's or 1950's.
The windmill was a recent find that will become a cross back apron just for me.
"Victoria" is a rather special barkcloth that I've had for a while,
a dark crimson red with greys and golds, a perfect colour combination.
'Woodstock" is another gorgeous colour combo from the fifties I think, much imitated.
Another deep red with vibrant blooms, I cannot resist.
Eventually the time does come to cut into them,
I wash them first just in case of colour run and shrinkage but this is hardly ever a problem as 60 years ago cloth produced and printed in this country was just top notch.
An apron is under construction in "Victoria" but for now I've managed a project bag
and a zip case.
