Apple Blossom Gingham Patcheork Skirt

£150.00 - £175.00

This skirt started with a vintage Laura Ashley apple blossom tablecloth. I added oversized gingham in a beautiful weave, striped linen and some ancient curtain lining that was originally putty coloured before I dyed it a rich brick red, it has such a sheen modern fabrics just don't suck up the dye like this. I've added pleats and then gathered on to an elasticated waistband making the waist a little less poofy than with just gathers. You can wear whichever way around you prefer, the front and back are different. All my skirts have generous in seam pockets.

Any patchworker will tell you it takes an incredible amount of time to piece a quilt together. The first thing I do is make sure all fabric edges are true and straight, it's a personal bug bear of mine to see cock-eyed seams, next is laundering after which I can see what colour palette I have to work with and then the fun of cutting and piecing begins. All seams are stitched and overlocked so they are good for decades.

This will be finished to your requirements, elasticated waist to fit and hem finished at your desired length. Should you prefer to finish the skirt yourself - hem and waist - I've included a discounted price.

Waist can be up to 42"
Length from waistband currently 37" un-hemmed as is or your length preference.
Laid flat at hem 43" so that's at total of 86" all around.
